Grief & Bereavement

Grief and bereavement counselling can help to deal with loss and major change.

When we lose a job or loved one (through death or a relationship breakup) it has far-reaching effects on us as individuals. Our whole self-image needs to adapt to the new reality of life without that person or role.

Grief & Bereavement Help

In chronic grief or interrupted grief people need support for the natural process of grieving to occur.

This is a time of great sadness, and involves a full spectrum of emotions including:

  • anger,
  • numbness,
  • joy,
  • longing,
  • missing,
  • mourning and more.

If natural emotional processing is not allowed, or not able to happen, then all these emotions build up and may be suppressed. This can develop into an experience similar to depression.

Things don’t need to get this serious for you to consider getting help.

If your usual support networks are not enough to help you deal with a break up or major loss and change, then counselling or therapy can be an important step to help you grieve what has been lost, come to terms with the new reality and find ways to move forward in life.
